In the early 1950s, Mae Bruner Morgan, a gourmet cook, and James Morgan developed the recipe for this delicious fruitcake. Through word of mouth, the cake quickly became a tradition with many Southern families and businesses.

James and Mae Bruner Morgan, with the help of their children, produced thousands of pounds of fruitcakes each year. The cakes were packaged and shipped all over the world on behalf of corporations and individuals who purchased them annually for customers, friends, and family.

Baking began each year on October 15 and continued through December 1. James believed the cake should age before being enjoyed, making early December the traditional cutoff time.

Today, Whaley Pecan Company, Inc. is proud to continue the Morgan family tradition at our facility in Troy, Alabama.
